Updated · Using calculators
The short answer
The scientific calculator is a separate page with an on-screen keypad. A side panel has three tabs, History, Memory and Favorites, so you can come back to earlier work.
Open it
- Open Search with Ctrl K (⌘ K on a Mac) or the Search button in the header.
- Type scientific and choose the Scientific calculator.
- Use the on-screen keypad to enter your calculation.
The side panel
The side panel has three tabs.
- History lists earlier calculations grouped by day, and you can recall one.
- Memory is the tab for values you have stored.
- Favorites is the tab for items you have saved as favourites.
When to use it
Use the scientific calculator when you want to type out your own expression on a keypad. For a specific task, such as a loan EMI, BMI or a unit conversion, a dedicated calculator gives you labelled fields, a formula and a worked example.
The History tab is helpful when you are working through several steps and want to look back at what you did earlier in the day.
Tips
The keypad is on the page itself, so you can tap or click the keys directly, with no need to switch to another tool.
For everyday sums such as EMI, BMI or unit conversion, search for the specific calculator instead. These show the formula and a worked example under the result.
