Calcylator

Can I use different measurement units?

Find out where units appear on Calcylator, how unit converters work, and how to enter numbers in the unit a field expects.

The short answer

Yes. Calcylator has unit converters for length, weight, volume, area, speed, temperature, data and more, and every other calculator shows the unit it expects right beside each field.

So there are two cases: converting from one unit to another, and entering a number in the unit a calculator asks for.

Converting between units

A unit converter turns a value in one unit into another, for example centimetres into inches. Most converters have a swap (⇄) button that reverses the direction, so you do not have to re-enter anything.

  1. Open Search (Ctrl K, or ⌘ K on a Mac) and type what you want, such as cm to inch.
  2. Choose the converter from the results.
  3. Enter your value. The answer appears straight away.
  4. Press the swap button if you want the opposite direction.

Units inside other calculators

In calculators that are not converters, each field has a label and a unit beside it, such as kg, cm, ₹ or %. Enter your number in that unit.

Examples of units you may see beside a field
FieldUnit shown beside itWhat to enter
WeightkgYour weight in kilograms
HeightcmYour height in centimetres
Amount of money₹The amount in rupees
Rate%A plain number, such as 9 for 9%

Check the unit before you read the answer

Results are labelled, so you can tell what each number stands for. If a number looks far too big or too small, the most common cause is a value typed in the wrong unit, such as inches in a field that expects centimetres.
